PUWER Assessments

There is a requirement in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations to undertake a risk assessment for all work activities.

In addition, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) ensures that the work equipment provided is suitable, maintained and inspected. This covers any equipment which is used by an employee at work  e.g.  hammers, knives, ladders, drilling machines, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including lifts), dumper trucks and motor vehicles. Similarly, if you allow employees to provide their own equipment, it too will be covered by PUWER and you will need to make sure that it complies.

At Black Cat Services we offer the service of undertaking a PUWER assessment for each piece of work equipment operated by your organisation. Our assessment will prove compliance (or otherwise) against the following regulations:

• Suitability of work equipment (Regulation 4)
• Maintenance (Regulation 5)
• Inspection (Regulation 6)
• Specific risks (Regulation 7)
• Information and instruction (Regulation 8 )
• Training (regulation 9)
• Conformity with community requirements (Regulation 10)

Black Cat Services also off project management services using our partner suppliers to undertake any remedial work identified by the assessments identifying non compliant equipment.

Fees

Following an initial free diagnostic visit, our fees will be charged as a fixed fee (covering each piece of equipment) and will be agreed prior to us entering into contract.

Any additional support due to unforeseen arising will be charged at an hourly rate (only following agreement).
